Spring 2022

The Super Local Food Project attempts to bridge the gap between local farmers and the people in Hampton Roads, Virginia. We accomplish this in many ways by selling seeds, produce, and making connections. We are excited to report our Markets for this upcoming season. We will be busy at Buckroe Beach Farmers Market in Hampton and City Center in Newport News. We are happy to announce we are eligible to accept SNAP benefits for the purchase of produce and seeds for growing food. As we continue our partnership with The Crop Foundation by accepting donations through Fresh Food Connect, your garden generosity will not only feed someone, your donation can be a part of the training curriculum to educate on benefits and the culinary arts that highlight LOCAL foods. Chef Kip Poole and The Crop Foundation is devoted to young students who study culinary, agriculture, and closely related fields. Our endeavor is to build a sustainable community of young students that are knowledgeable and confident in their career paths and will be lifelong learners of excellence in gastronomy. We are dedicated to helping students further their education by offering scholarships and identify internships with local and global chefs, farmers, restaurateurs, and other members of the culinary community. Our project goals are to expand attendance and graduation from youth programming from 480 students. With funding support from generous gardeners, Amazon Smile, Kroger Rewards, and citizens like YOU! There are many ways to donate do you shop on Amazon link your account with Crop through Amazon smile, or while you shop at Kroger. OR set up a monthly or one-time donation directly to the Crop Foundation.

CALLING ALL GARDENERS FFC links home gardeners with food rescue and other nonprofit organizations with the goal of strengthing our local food system. Home gardeners with extra food from their gardens can alert FFC through a mobile app and have that food picked up from their doorstep for delivery to local nonprofits. It's a great way to help communities in need. The donations will be provided to The Crop Foundation a 501-c-3 whose mission is to build a sustainable community of young students to be knowledgeable and lifelong learners in the culinary field from seed to table.
